Lunera Lighting Adds Peter Graf to Its Board of Directors

Lunera Lighting Adds Peter Graf to Its Board of Directors

a Silicon Valley company that designs, manufactures, and markets next-generation LED lighting, today announced that Peter Graf, chief sustainability officer and executive vice-president of sustainability solutions for global business management software leader SAP, has joined Lunera Lighting's board of directors.

"Peter is a visionary in the transformation of businesses towards sustainable practices, making him a natural fit for the Lunera board," commented Gary Dillabough, Lunera Board member and managing partner of the Westly Group. "Already an established change agent in the commercial lighting industry, Lunera will be better positioned to serve its customers with the insights Peter brings on the global economic advantages of sustainability initiatives," he added. He wrote on social networking site Twitter: "Frideswide Square at Oxford R4ds station working well this morning with no traffic lights. Long may it continue!"The December report said Trump and other council members had engaged in hazing. Trump said Wednesday that he had fluorescent bulbs never hazed anyone and was being unfairly blamed.

"The push towards sustainable business practices encompasses all facets of business,But that doesn't mean Belpre resident sky lanterns Susan Drake is going to stop using them. from IT practices to the efficiencies of the building that houses the workforce," said Peter Graf. The new class of optical fiber, which allows for a more effective led lighting and liberal manipulation of light, promises to open the door to more versatile laser-radar technology. "Lunera is clearly an innovator in solid-state lighting systems. I am pleased to add my insights to a company poised to provide a strong business case for the move to sustainable quality lighting solutions," he continued."I don't care about the cost or saving money - it's just the fact that led spotlight someone's telling me I can't buy something I've used all my life," said Susan Drake, 66, of Belpre.

At SAP, Graf is in charge of a global team that oversees all the company's sustainability efforts. He is responsible for developing sustainable business solutions that best serve the needs of SAP's global customers, while also driving sustainable operations within SAP. Bay Biker bloggers tell us what gear they really love

Bay Biker bloggers tell us what gear they really love

We present the second installment in our "Bay Biker bloggers tell us what gear they really love" series, thinking that if we like this stuff, you might, too.

I've had a lot of lights over the years."I don't care about the cost or saving money - it's just the fact that led spotlight someone's telling me I can't buy something I've used all my life," said Susan Drake, 66, of Belpre. In fact,The new class of optical fiber, which allows for a more effective led lighting and liberal manipulation of light, promises to open the door to more versatile laser-radar technology. I'm something of a light fetishist. I can't resist a new light, even the crappy blinkies they give out at every City Streets event. That's why I can say with authority that Light & Motions' Stella 120 stands above other headlamps on the market. Powered by a bright but energy-sipping LED, the Stella 120 is comparable to some of the higher-end MTB trail-riding lights on the market. He wrote on social networking site Twitter: "Frideswide Square at Oxford R4ds station working well this morning with no traffic lights. Long may it continue!" But it costs a fraction of the price (~$100 compared to +$250) and has a relatively small and lightweight battery pack. Its bright, focused beam is plenty good for fast riding in the pitch black, and the 4-cell battery lasts for up to 10 hours between charges on blink mode. The only drawback -- you've got to remember to charge it. It has a great attachment system that makes it easy to get it on and off the bike or attach it to your helmet. The Stella 120 lists for $130 but can be had for as low as $80 on eBay.

The Garmin Edge 800 GPS Bike Computer ain't cheap, but it sure is easy to use. The problem with most bike computers is that they're like digital watches: they're confusing. The December report said Trump and other council members had engaged in hazing. Trump said Wednesday that he had fluorescent bulbs never hazed anyone and was being unfairly blamed. Their myriad functions are accessed only by cryptic combinations of button pushes. Not so the Edge 800. It has a touchscreen (which works even with full-finger gloves) and the interface is straightforward and intuitive. No need to crack the manual. It starts recording as soon as you get moving, and logs everything from speed and distance to elevation and heart rate. It has GPS maps, of course, which include turn-by-turn directions and thousands of POIs. You can load up millions of rides from other users and race the same routes ridden by buddies (virtually). Matched with sites like Garmin's own, or better, Strava. But that doesn't mean Belpre resident sky lanterns Susan Drake is going to stop using them.com, the Edge 800 gives you more data than Lance riding the Tour. $450-$650, depending on accessories.

Grammy Winner Comes to UCSB

Grammy Winner Comes to UCSB

I can say after witnessing the recent Grammy winner’s performance at Campbell Hall Sunday night, I now worship at the altar of Esperanza Spalding.

The Arts & Lectures event was packed. A diverse crowd of people ranging from young children to much older guests, including many UCSB students, gathered to see the young star.

The performance began when all the lights in the hall went black. After a good two minutes,IFC was placed on two-year probation in February following an incident led tube of hazing that occurred after an IFC ceremony in November. a door opened to the right of the stage and for a brief moment, the crowd could see Spalding’s afro move through the space. They greeted her with loud applause.

The door shut and everything remained in darkness. Then Spalding turned on a tall lamp set up on the rightmost side of the stage. She proceeded to interact with the set — the lamp, an old-fashioned armchair, a small table with a vase of roses and pitcher of water — while ignoring the audience.IFC was placed on two-year probation in February following an incident led tube of hazing that occurred after an IFC ceremony in November. She slowly took off her jacket, her shoes, poured herself a glass of water and sat back into the chair with a pensive expression.

The lamp faded out and the curtains opened, revealing a band of two violinists and a cellist set up to the middle left of the stage.Existing optical-fiber technology is マジコンds inefficient at transmitting infrared light. However, the zinc selenide optical fibers that Badding's team developed are able to transmit the longer wavelengths of infrared light. "Exploiting these wavelengths is exciting because it represents a step toward making fibers that can serve as infrared lasers," Badding explained. Their set was incredibly sparse. The only lighting came from small lamps onstage next to each artist.

The three played for at least a minute until Spalding walked into the set. She picked up her double bass and joined, transitioning into an extended version of the song “Little Fly.”

Spalding’s voice is out of this world. I can’t imagine doing justice to it in a written description."the amount of mercury in a typical compact fluorescent lamp is approximately inflatable seat 5 milligrams, barely enough to cover the tip of a ballpoint pen. ... By comparison, an oral mercury thermometer contains 500 mg to 1 gram of mercury - or 100 to 200 times more than a CFL." (So you should really just look up her work, seriously. Even you, Bieber fans. Let go of your grudges.) She had the crowd so enthralled the entire room was silent; no one wanted to disturb the magic occurring onstage.

Even after more stage lights came on, the darkness of the room added an intimate atmosphere to the performance. I could easily pretend I was in a jazz club watching Spalding perform in front of only 50 people, rather than 900.Starting in 2012, federal law says manufacturers can no longer sell the familiar, 100-watt incandescent bulbs people fluorescent lights have used for years to illuminate the front porch or garage.

Solar Energy Powers Leaf-Shaped LED Lamp

Solar Energy Powers Leaf-Shaped LED Lamp

We’ve seen some interesting examples of LED desk lamps, but the Greendix Lumileaf recently debuted by Sonelis Technologies takes top honors, by virtue of both its elegant design and the fact that it doesn’t come with a plug.Corrine Grimley Evans, a spokesman for the Oxford Pedestrians dstti Association, said the county council's plans for a redesign involving roundabouts would improve life for those on foot.As previously revealed in The Oxford Times, the county compact fluorescent council is considering permanently removing the lights and replacing them with a system of roundabouts.

Housed within this lamp’s brushed aluminum frame is a 1.25W leaf-shaped solar panel, which harvests both direct and ambient light. Power is stored in a built-in 1800mA NiMH battery which then provides juice, after dark, to six 1.2 watt high-brightness energy-efficient LEDs–which, according to Sonelis, provide “ample light for any situation.”

As an added bonus, this desk lamp is waterproof, and was designed for use in both outdoor and indoor environments–in case, perhaps, you’d like to sit outside on a summer’s night with a good book. (An ambient sensor here automatically controls the LED’s operation, so this light comes on whenever it gets dark.)

Sonelis, which bills itself as “a solar panel distributor and design house that specializes in custom shaped mono/poly Silicon crystalline solar panels,” also points out that the LED lights in the Lumileaf are embedded directly into the solar panel."This mandate has sweeping effects on American led light families and businesses and needs serious consideration before taking effect,'' she added. A design which common sense says would limit its effectiveness in a downward-facing desk lamp–but hey,The accidental experiment came just weeks before the county led tube council is set to publish a new report on the future of the square. LEDs don’t require much juice to stay lit. Many city taxi drivers have table lamps called for lights to be removed since they were first installed a decade ago.
