Presented by author Petros Tatsopoulos, the series was developed under the guidance of Thanos Veremis, professor of political history at the University of Athens, and Iakovos Michailidis, history professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Directed by Yuri Averof, Nikos Dagiandas, Andreas Apostolidis and Lefteris Haritos, “1821” follows in the footsteps of the BBC’s “History of Britain” series, in the hope of providing entertaining and enlightening television and a platform for a kind of national debate regarding the country’s past and present.
