MCD plan to install LEDs fails to take off

Municipal Corporation of Delhi's ambitious plan to install 50 Light Emitting Diode (LED) screens in some markets for community viewing has failed to take off. Though such screens have been installed in nine markets,IFC was placed on two-year probation in February following an incident led tube of hazing that occurred after an IFC ceremony in November. none of them are functional. The civic agency now plans to engage another firm to complete the project, but a final decision is yet to be taken, said MCD officials.

"The company engaged to install the LED screens couldn't finish the work. It had just installed nine LED screens before the Games. Successful implementation of the project would have helped the civic agency earn revenue from advertisement. The private firm - MIC Electronics Limited - was to pay MCD Rs 50 lakh a month as rent.

The private firm approached the Delhi high court against MCD's plan to engage a new firm to complete the project. "The court's decision was in our favour. This was an important project. We want to encourage community viewing and would like to go-ahead with the project. This would also bring good revenue to MCD. We are yet to decide on what to do with the existing screens and how to make them operational,As previously revealed in The Oxford Times, the county ds マジコン council is considering permanently removing the lights and replacing them with a system of roundabouts.'' said a senior MCD official.

The screens were supposed to display advertisements, social messages, health-related messages, traffic information, news and sports capsules as well as movie promos. "The screens face the markets so that a large number of people can view it. They were specially installed for the Commonwealth Games so that people can come together to watch live telecast of sports events,'' said an MCD official.
