The collection was acquired from Chester W. Topp of Cleveland, Ohio, who spent more than 40 years researching and buying these rare books. Faulds came across Topp’s bibliography of yellowbacks and Victorian novels and learned of his extensive collection. Struck by curiosity, Faulds contacted Topp’s son, publisher of the bibliography, and discovered that Topp was looking for a new home for his precious books. Faulds then expressed MARBL’s interest and was able to work out a deal., with very little electricity fluorescent bulbs consumption, and minimum background light to disturb sleep.
