Councils cut back on Christmas lights costs
The cost of Greater Manchester’s Christmas lights has dropped amid the gloom of public spending cuts.
Councils have splashed out ￡731,700 – more than a quarter less than the ￡1m spent last year.
Town hall bosses have kept costs low by installing ‘greener’ festive bulbs during refurbishments in recent years.
