ODOT Plows Spike

Crashes Involving Vehicles and ODOT Plows Spike

ODOT says it is seeing a huge spike in the number of crashes involving snow plows. With the lighting change, the church will Led lamp save more than $180 a year in energy costs. However, the payback for these changes will be in 10 years, as the bulb project is costing the church $1,700, Brothers said. So far this year, there have already been 63 crashes involving plows. All last winter, there were just 57.

Now, ODOT is asking the state legislature to approve a small change it says could make a big difference.

There already have been six more crashes involving ODOT snow plows than all of last year. And winter isn't close to being over. The KMC top brass were divided cfl bulbs when an MNC approached them to adopt the latest technology for street lighting. While mayor Sovan Chatterjee welcomed the change,

"A majority of the crashes we see are people rear-ending snow plows -- that for whatever reason they don't see the snow plow ahead. They misjudge how fast they're going to come upon a snow plow," said ODOT spokesman Scott Varner. For the second time in Air max classic the four-year history of the NHL Winter Classic, the Penguins are one of the participating teams for the New Year's Day game. For the first time, they're hosting, borrowing Heinz Field from the Steelers for the noon game.

To fix that, ODOT has requested the state change revised code to where it can switch the current yellow lights on its 1,700 snow-removal vehicles with green LED lights.

"We've collected a lot of research that shows in dark conditions,The company said the led lamp independently-tested bulb would pay for itself in less than two years because of the energy savings it achieves. in wintry conditions, that a green light is easier to see than a yellow light," said Varner

"Green would definitely attract more attention to the vehicle moving on the roadway," said Brandon Harris, owner of Capital Towing and Recovery in Columbus.

Harris says those traditional yellow, or amber, strobe lights don't get the respect from drivers they used to.This same usage level would equate to 70 CFL bulbs or 20 LEDs thrown away Led bulb light in a lifetime. Throwing away fewer bulbs will decrease mercury runoff from dumps, as well as decrease the amount of trash piling up.
